On Saturday several guys competed well at the Dayton Carroll qualifier, thanks to Coach Becher, Dave Day, and Jerry Venia for providing the transportation and supervision. See results.
On Sunday coaches, nineteen Foxfire wrestlers, a photographer, and several parents traveled to Franklin, Ohio for the first annual Ohio Freestyle Duals. Coach Bostelman, did a great job leading the team. There was tough competition from ten dual meet teams across the state of Ohio made up of Cadets and Juniors. Lots of great matches. Five duals, Foxfire was 4-1 and finished as the State Duals runner-ups to a team named Seasons. In the fourth dual, Foxfire defeated Lake Erie by a score of 37-27 and in the final with Seasons the match was tied going into the final individual bout. 19 members of the Foxfire wrestling club competed at the Freestyle and Greco-Roman qualifier this weekend at Oregon Clay. The Foxfire delegation also consisted of three officials, four coaches, and a photographer. Gallery of 58 photos. High Res photos available at walmart.com. Find Results here.
On Saturday FoxFire had 4 wrestlers compete at the viper pit and all 4 placed. Justin P took 1st and Josh P took 2nd in both his age and high school division. Devin F took 1st and Donovan F took 3rd. Awsome competition. They represented FoxFire well! Tournament website.
Toledo born and raised Penn State wrestling Assistant Coach Shawn Contos joined the normal Thursday evening workout session and provided the instruction. Shawn came back on Saturday for a two hour clinic giving training and 'approach to wrestling' advice to those who attended. Also on Thursday March 28th local M.D. Lindsey Bostelman gave the wrestlers and coaches some information about the different varieties of skin conditions a wrestler may come in contact with. Dr Bostelman also provided information on prevention and took questions.
Wil M and Devin F each were crowned as State Champions at the 10th annual OAC Grade School State Championships held at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio. Congratulations on the achievement! This weekend saw many FoxFire wrestlers in competition at the inaugural OHIOWAY Northwest Regional Tournament. In fact all 18 wrestlers placed at the tournament. Champions were Devin F, Wil M, Caleb Y, Justin P, Josh P, Trevor H. Earning a 2nd place finish were Donovan F, Ayden S, Mason H, Ethan B, Cody M, Jeff W. Brice T, and Andrew S, each took a 3rd place, while John W and Dillon F each wrestled to a 4th place finish. Rounding out the field were Jacob B and Corbin C earning a 5th and 6th place respectively. Great job guys, now on to State!
Fourteen wrestlers, five coaches and a photographer traveled to BGSU for the Junior High NW Ohio District Championships. Four Foxfire wrestlers advance to the JH State Championships at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown on March 9th and 10th. CalebY (84lbs), TrevorH (126lbs), JohnW (132lbs) finished as runners-up and EthanB (108lbs) finished 5th. These four advance to the State Championships. CodyM (108lbs) finished 7th and AndrewS (102lbs) finished 8th; both are state alternates. MaxT, CobinC, JeffW, DiegoC, HunterW, AusitnL, RobbieW, and DillonF all had success at the Stroh Center. Eleven Foxfire wrestlers, two coaches and a photographer traveled to Columbus over Martin Luther King weekend to participate in the annual JH CIT tournament. Foxfire finished 2nd out of the field of 15 teams. Gallery of 51 photos. High res Photos.

Tom Ryan ran two 2-hour technique sessions in Toledo Ohio for a group of interested High School, Junior High and elementary wrestlers. Coach Ryan did a fabulous job! It was a pleasure to host him! Some great technique, an excellent teacher, and a fantastic human being! We are definitely looking forward to hosting Coach Ryan again at the Foxfire wrestling club. Gallery of 26 Photos. The FoxFire Jr. High Team had a few kids who participated in some great events this weekend. While only 6 boys could travel to Cleveland for the duals hosted by St. Bernadette, all of the boys wreslted hard and did FoxFire proud. Boys at the event were Robert L, Jeff W, Diego C, Justin H, DeAngelo S, and Dillon F.
There were also a few kids who participated in the big events at North Hills, PA or Spartan Country in Lansing, MI. Jeff and Diego headed to North Hills and wrestled strong against some great opponents. Jeff finished with a fourth place finish. More guys headed to Spartan country and did very well. Daniel P. took 1st, Donte RG and Justin H. took 3rd, Robert L. took 4th and John S. took 5th. Congratulations to all the kids who took the challenge and went head to head with some fierce competitors.
FoxFire hosted its annual Novice and Hammer tournament at CCHS. The two events were very successful. Hard work by many of our young wrestlers has resulted in success on the mat. Additionally, the volunteer effort by our parents, families and friends helped to ensure a well run event. The FoxFire Jr. High Team hosted Delta and a Toledo Jr. High Team made up of guys from Waite and Rogers Jr Highs. There was also some strong competition from Soul City Wrestling Club. Wrestling for FoxFire were Skylar, Max, Robert, John, Jeff, Diego, Austin, Dominic, Justin, Burrow, and Stanlay. The FoxFire Jr. High Team travelled to Wauseon to compete in the Six Team Dual Meet Tournament. Even after giving up six empty weigh classes (36 points) they still took third place; only losing to first place Delta by 10 and second place Wauseon by 1 point. Jeff led the squad going 5-0 plus 1-0 in exhibition. Other wrestlers were Jordan, Max, Connor, Robert, Diego, Gage, Brandon, and Stanlay. Gallery of 68 Photos
Six Foxfire wrestlers traveled to Cedar Falls, Iowa for the USA Preseason Nationals. This Folkstyle tournament drew 2594 wrestlers from 38 states. Junior 138lb, Alex Mossing battled through a bracket of 127 wrestlers and finished 2nd. Junior Logan Day earned six victories on the day, Senior Matt Pool, Sophomore Josh Mossing, and Freshmen Josh Portillo and Josh Venia all earned victories as well. Five Foxfire wrestlers
and a Coach represented their respective states at the Cadet and Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota. Jacob Spiess (100), Josh Mossing (120) and Logan Day (145)wrestled for team Ohio as Cadets. Logan Griffin (113), a Cadet, represented team Michigan. Alex Mossing (152) competed in
the Greco Roman tournament
on Ohio's Junior National Team. Coach Tony Martin marked his second year as an Ohio National Coach. Logan Day was one of three Ohioians who earned All-American honors in the Cadet Greco Roman Tournament! Logan competed in a total of eight greco matches with six victories earning a 4th place finish! Storm Damage to Foxfire Facility ... on Thursday afternoon July 5th a storm passed through and the Foxfire building sustained significant roof damage. Both large doors on the North side also sustained damage. Water damage exists throughout the building. A group of volunteers were available to quickly get all of the mats out of the standing water in the building ... since the 5th we have been working with the insurance company and the contractors on tarping the roof, cleaning the building ... the installation of a new roof will be begin within the week.

Three Foxfire wrestlers represented their
respective states at USA Wrestling's Cadet National Duals in Daytona Beach FL. Logan Griffin represented the state of Michigan, wrestled both Greco Roman and Freestyle competing in a total of eleven matches over a four day period. Josh Mossing and Logan Day represented Ohio in Freestyle competition. Logan represented Ohio Scarlet who finished 9th out of the 32 team field. Logan competed in nine matches and earned five victories. Prior to the start of FS competition, Josh met a jellyfish in the Atlantic Ocean:) Josh competed in seven matches and secured five victories. Josh Venia and Jacob Spiess were the lone Foxfire representatives at the 2012 FILA Cadet National Tournament in Akron Ohio. Josh wrestled in the 44kg (92.5lb) class and went 2-2 against some national caliber opponents. Jacob competed in the 46kg (101.25lb) class and advance thru the fifth round of competition. The 'FILA' Cadet class is an international class and it allows competitors which are one year older than the normal 'Cadet' age group. Every year very, very tough competition across the United States assembles for this tourny and these guys gained some valuable experience. See trackwrestling results here.

three officials, a coach, and a photographer traveled to Western Brown High School in Mt Orab Ohio for the Cadet and Junior Freestyle and Greco Roman State Championships.
